What Is It?

The Grant Horner Plan is a Bible reading system where you read one Bible chapter from each of ten different lists every day. So you read 10 chapters of the Bible per day. Professor Grant Horner started this system in 1983 as a new Christian. Within 3 years he knew the text of his Bible very well. Twenty-five years later it was “essentially imprinted on his mind and heart.”

Should You Do This?

Do this if: You’ve already read through the Bible in its proper order 1-2 times and want to go deeper.

Don’t do this if: You’re new to the Bible. First read through the Bible in order (Genesis to Revelation) once or twice to understand the overall story and structure. The Grant Horner Plan works best when you already know the basic layout of Scripture.

The Main Benefit

According to professor Grant Horner the best effect of the system is rapid, broad-scale contextualizing: Because you’re reading from different parts of the Bible each day, you see how Scripture interprets Scripture. You’ll notice connections between Deuteronomy and Matthew, or between Ecclesiastes and 2 Corinthians. The Bible starts commenting on itself, and you’ll understand passages better by seeing them in the context of the whole Bible.

Each day you read one chapter from each list. The system is cyclic—when you finish a book, the next day the tool automatically moves you to the first chapter of the next book in that list. When you finish a list, it cycles back to the beginning.

Audio and Translations

Our tool includes audio from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB) so you can also listen to the 10 daily chapters. The audio is in the public domain.

We also provide YouVersion links for each day’s reading. This lets you read the same chapters in a Bible translation of your choice using the YouVersion app.
