Prophecy
How the Old Testament proves the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Afterwards, the Gospel message was received and spread across the whole world.
The Evidence
1. Old Testament written B.C.
The Old Testament was written before Christ, which is virtually undisputed.
2. OT Foretells Christ
The Old Testament contains many precise foreshadowings of the story of Jesus Christ and the Gospel. Here is a tool to show some of these as proof of this:
3. Historic Facts about Jesus
- Jesus was crucified
- His disciples believed He rose from the dead
- His disciples quoted from the Old Testament and found the Messiah prophesied in there to line up with the Jesus they knew personally
- His disciples were willing to suffer and die for this belief
4. Worldwide Gospel Spread
In the Old Testament, Isaiah wrote that God's salvation would be brought to the ends of the earth. Roughly 700 years later, Jesus said:
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Jesus Christ
Roughly 2000 years later we can see how the Gospel message indeed has been spreading, just as the Old Testament foretold. And as Jesus did as well.
Summary
- The Old Testament foretold Jesus Christ and the historic facts we have about Him
- The Gospel has been spreading to the whole world just as the Old Testament foretold and as Jesus Christ foretold too
Conclusion
Jesus - as we know Him historically - was accurately foretold by a collection of books (Old Testament) that took a thousand years to write. So when Jesus speaks, we better listen REALLY CAREFULLY. Jesus said:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
